Government-backed growth is creating new markets and business opportunities, and attracting even more skilled people to the county to fill the massive rise in job vacancies.
It is receiving an extra boost from the huge investment surrounding the London Olympics. Growth on this scale is creating an economic vibrancy opens up unique investment opportunities for local, national and international businesses.
Essex has two main growth areas: Thames Gateway in south Essex, part of Europe’s largest regeneration programme and Haven Gateway in north east Essex, focused around the port complex of Harwich and Felixstowe.
The Government has set high growth targets across the county: 131,000 new jobs by 2021 - more than a quarter of the total for the east of England.
