Emirates in Essex

The arrival of Emirates in Essex in June 2018 subsequently makes London Stansted Airport, (2018’s fastest growing airport) the 7th in the UK from which they operate, and the 3rd in the London area after Gatwick and Heathrow.

Currently, there is one flight per day from Stansted to Dubai, bringing the total number of Emirates flights per day between London airports and Dubai to ten.

We decided to add London Stansted to our network because we saw an opportunity to directly connect the local community with some of the world’s most popular leisure and business destinations. Previously, London’s north east, and the wider 7.5 million people that live within Stansted’s catchment areas had to travel into the city, or further, to access airports with global reach. Now, this daily flight to Dubai connects passengers seamlessly to Emirates points across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australasia.

The daily flight between London Stansted Airport and Dubai is serviced by the cutting-edge Boeing 777-300ER, first unveiled in Dubai in 2017, and features fully enclosed first-class private suites as well as ‘refreshed business and economy cabins.’ This also marks the first time the state-of-the-art aircraft has been deployed in the UK.

As well as benefiting consumers, the addition of London Stansted to the Emirates portfolio will prove to be important for Emirates SkyCargo, the company’s freight divison. As well as offering local business about 20 tonnes of cargo capacity per flight, the carrier also connects cargo customers to over 155 cities across 85 countries in six and an average of 140,000 tonnes of cargo to and from the UK each year.

In 2018 Stansted is set to be the fastest growing London airport and a key enabler of economic growth for both the UK and East of England, and the addition of the new Emirates service will provide a further boost to our long haul ambitions and ultimately save local passengers valuable time and money that is associated with flying from other airports across London

Future Flight Plans in Essex

Looking to the future, the resounding success of the daily flight between Stansted and Dubai has resulted in preliminary discussions taking place between London Stansted Airport and Emirates regarding the possibility of a twice daily flight which may take effect as early as next Summer.

At the launch, the Emirates guys joked that they would be coming to speak to me soon about increasing to double daily flights, but we really are now talking to them about that, it’s gone that well. We’d be hopeful – better than hopeful – that they would look to add a second daily flight as quickly as next summer, which would reflect well on the success they’ve had so far.
