Essex beginnings

Uniserve Group, is the UK’s largest independently owned logistics provider, with headquarters at Upminster in Essex and main distribution centre in Tilbury.

Uniserve were formed in 1984, and have continued to provide door-to-door global logistics solutions for over 30 years, as well as a range of value-added services from worldwide warehousing to finance and environmental logistics.

Driven by a relentless determination to deliver value to customers, Uniserve has become synonymous with quality, reliability and innovation, all delivered at the lowest possible cost. This, allied with continuous investment, enabled Uniserve’s growth.

Today’s gateway to global supply chains

Uniserve Group has become a trusted partner to many of the world’s leading businesses, ranging from major corporations and brands through to local or niche online companies. They provide and specialise in worldwide import and export products by Ocean, Air and Road freight.

The company, which also has offices at Heathrow, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin, set up its Essex base at Tilbury Docks in 1984 to handle exports to Australia. From the outset, the company recognised the strategic importance of the county’s international ports and transport links.

With access to London Stansted Airport, the deep sea port of Tilbury, nearby Felixstowe and the national motorway network, Uniserve has grown into a global business that currently employs more than 400 staff directly, with a worldwide network of over 40,000 people supporting the supply chains of more than 4000 clients.

Today, Uniserve’s main focus is on UK retailers and wholesalers, and the company specialises in imports and exports to the Far East and Indian sub-continent by sea and air, where it has an unrivalled depth of regional knowledge through its massive network of local associates.

High standards of service and continuous industry innovation have been recognised with numerous supply chain and customer service awards over the years.

“Our close proximity to London allows us to deal with many international businesses and organisations who recognise the benefits of our strategic location in Essex. The building of the new London Gateway container port will only strengthen this.”

We view Information Technology as a competitive advantage. We have invested heavily over many years in our own operating visibility platforms and our internally developed and highly sophisticated One World platform -which is probably the most intelligent supply chain software available today.

Within our industry we are leading the way in staff development. The Supply Chain Academy and CP Training are group owned companies and leading training providers.

Between our group companies we have led and driven employee groups to create the first ever Supply Chain Degree Apprenticeship through government, which we are now delivering to our own staff and the industry.
