The recent announcement that Primera Air, an Icelandic leisure airline, is to offer a new transatlantic services from London Stansted Airport from April 2018 onwards, is set to benefit Essex businesses in the life sciences and health technology sectors. The airline will offer daily services from New York’s Newark Airport, four a week to Boston’s Logan Airport and have just announced a further three weekly services to Toronto, Canada.
New York and Boston are integral hubs for cutting edge research in the life sciences sectors as well as being home to world class universities. Rapid advances in life sciences and health technologies are being driven by partnerships between industry and universities. Expanding connectivity in the county
The CEO of Primera Air, Hrafn Thorgeirsson, spoke at a special event hosted by One Nucleus, the international life science organisation, outlining the great value, excellent service and fundamental connectivity the airline will be affording its passengers and businesses along the London-Cambridge corridor upon its launch next spring.

London Stansted Airport, who already reach over 190 destinations and serve over 25 million customers, have expressed their delight at being chosen as a base for Primera to launch their new innovative service.

London Stansted Airport
Primera Air and London Stansted Airport have continued working together to further the county’s connectivity by announcing a third transatlantic flight to Toronto. Toronto Canada is London Stansted’s fifth largest unserved destination with over 280,000 local passengers flying each year to Toronto from other London airports. The flight will be operating three times a week and will launch in June 2018 after the launch of the USA flights.
